3 Tips To Welcome Students Back To The Classroom

Image

It’s that time of year! The school buses are pulling in and students are beginning to fill the hallways of your school. As they approach your classroom, here’s a good question for you: Will they feel comfortable as soon as they step in?

Here are 3 things you can do to make your classroom feel more welcoming as students come back to school:

  • Team-building activities. The best way to break the ice is to jump right into the learning process. There are numerous STEM/STEAM activities — especially in our Innovation Course — that require groups to work in unison to achieve a common goal. While working together, the students will get to know each other and respect the effort and intangibles of each other. That bond can last the entire school year!

  • Let your students pick their seats. As your students settle into their new learning environment, give them a sense of control. Some schools have replaced chairs with colored exercise balls or flexible seating to add a fun twist!

  • Create a welcoming environment. Replace the drab with some fab. Posters and wall art — available in our store — are great ways to add a pop of color and creativity to the walls. Pencil holders with colored pencils, mats on the floor and inspirational signage are also great ways to welcome students back to school and get them excited about the year ahead of them. The goal is to make them feel like the possibilities are endless!
